  • Hercules: A Movie Review

Posted on November 5, 2014 by Tao

HerculesThought I'd update everybody with a movie that I recently watche d- the new Hercules with the Rock.  It's a surprisingly nuanced movie and does a lot to take the concept of Hercules to 'real life'  Even more interesting is the fact that it's actually based on a comic book, so while there are certain comic book sensibilities (the difficult to hurt / kill heroes), it never steps too far out of reality to make it completely unbelievable.

  • Everything I have to say about GamerGate

Posted on October 23, 2014 by Tao

Has already been said and better by Felicia Day in her blog post.

  • Massively Multiplayer: Book Review

Posted on September 11, 2014 by Tao

Massively Multiplayer by P. Aaron Potter is an amazing book and a great example of the eBook revolution and the kind of quality that can come from it.  I picked it up via a Humble Bundle and I must say, there were certainly quite a few good books in there but this one stood out.

  • Little Brother - Book Review

Posted on September 4, 2014 by Tao

So, Little Brother by Cory Doctorow is probably the best Young Adult book I've read in a long time. It's set in an alternate reality modern day (or maybe just a little ahead of where we are) and focuses on Marcus's fight against 'Big Brother' once they take over San Francisco after a terrorist attack. Unwilling to trade his privacy for 'safety', the book chronicles his exploits and does a little teaching along the way.

  • Yukomicon 2014

Posted on August 12, 2014 by Tao

We went all the way North to Yukomicon last weekend and had a ton of fun. Being the first year there, we weren't sure how well it would work but it went well and we really enjoed the much smaller venue and setting.  Both Magda Apanowics and Kevin Sorbo were amazing as guests.

  • 5 Things to Geek About - 8/1/2014

Posted on August 1, 2014 by Tao

Alright, here's this week's 5 things that I enjoyed geeking about:
    1.   4 Ways to Keep Yourself Using a Public Wifi Hotspot
Aeryn's post is informative and about as complicated as I want to get.  Some of it  seems like common sense (keep your Wifi off if you don't need it!) but how many of us bother [...]
